A school on the outskirts of Preston are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school are looking for a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to support the needs of their pupils with SEMH.

As a Teaching Assistant you will need to have a passion for working with young people and want to make a difference in people's lives. The young people that you will be working with have behavioral problems and have experienced trauma and so we would require an individual who will bring positive commitment to young people and has an awareness of their difficulties. The children that you will be working with are both male and female and aged between 11 - 18 years old. The school provides an alternative to mainstream education, offering learner's the opportunity to work with specialist trained staff in a small group setting, with the aim to support young people in re-engaging with education and community life. Ideally, the right candidate will have experience in assisting people with literacy and numeracy sills however, experience is not essential. You will be a part of a dedicated team of professionals who will offer you clear guidance and mentor you in to this role. The successful candidate will complete a highly comprehensive induction program as-well as on-going training throughout their employment.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who will:

• Support groups of students in lessons or 1:1 situations both on and off site.

• Assist the Teacher/Tutor in the preparation of work.

• Support students to make progress in formal learning situations as well as with self-help skills, life skills and social understanding.

• Build successful relationships with our students to enable them to make progress despite their barriers to learning.

• Understand the complexities of our students and support them to make progress with their personal development.

• Manage a range of behaviours as part of a skilled and supportive team.

The rate of pay will likely be between GBP57 - GBP76 per day, dependent upon experience.

The role is to start ASAP and is on a temp-perm basis. The successful candidate will be offered a contract following the completion of a 15 working week probation.
