Teaching Assistant - Secondary - Oldham

Due to a change in their staffing structure, our client secondary school in the centre of Oldham are looking to appoint a full time teaching assistant for a 12 month fixed position, working within the school supporting students throughout the school day.

Highlights of working at the school as a teaching assistant;

  • Full time position, 12 month contract at the school
  • Provide 1:1 support during lessons
  • Work alongside teaching staff to improve participation during lessons
  • Ensure students are behaving and focussed on their studies
  • Providing support to students with SEN and additional needs

Our client secondary is a small, newly established secondary school with excellent facilities and a welcoming staff group who are looking to recruit due to a change in staffing and an increase in the number of students next academic year. Situated just out of the centre of Oldham, the school has excellent transport links to and from the surrounding areas which is perfect for those applicants who do not drive. Though relatively new in the area, the school has already shown itself to be an excellent establishment in which students are encouraged to achieve at their potential, with staff being accredited for an above average number of students making more than the expected levels of progress.

Whilst working at our client as a teaching assistant, the successful applicant will be responsible for engagement of students during lessons whilst supporting the delivery of lessons from teaching staff. You will face challenges as a teaching assistant including students not wanting to complete set work or engage with the lesson, so applicants will need to have perseverance and the ability to build rapport with young people quickly. Although previous experience is not a necessity, it would prove advantageous for this job, or experience in a relevant field such as coaching/tuition/youth work.

If you would like to be taken into consideration for this position, then please forward a CV and covering letter in response to the advert via the link provided.
