SEN Support Assistant – SEN Units (Pembrokeshire)

Location: Pembrokeshire

Teaching Personnel are seeking dedicated SEN Support Assistants to work across Special Educational Needs (SEN) units within mainstream schools in Pembrokeshire. This rewarding role involves supporting students with additional learning needs to help them engage in education, develop independence, and reach their potential.

About the Role

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to provide tailored support to pupils within specialist units attached to mainstream schools. Students may present with a range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups within SEN units
  • Assisting with classroom learning and differentiated activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting pupils to develop communication, social and independence skills
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum in a supportive learning environment

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • An Enhanced Child Only DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN/ALN

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Welsh-speaking ability
  • Training such as Team Teach or behaviour support strategies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
