Job description

Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Urmston Primary School
Start Date: After October Half Term
We are currently seeking a dedicated Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant, inclusive primary school in Urmston. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about education and eager to make a meaningful impact on children’s learning and development.

In this role, you’ll work closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality lessons across the curriculum, offer targeted support to pupils, and help maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment where every child can succeed.

You’ll be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team in a school that values collaboration, creativity, and child-centred learning.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Provide tailored support to individuals and small groups, both in class and during interventions
  • Help plan and prepare lesson materials and learning activities
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Deliver structured interventions for pupils with additional or SEND needs
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development
  • Monitor progress and assist in reporting pupil outcomes
  • Maintain open communication with colleagues, parents, and carers

Who We’re Looking For:

  • An experienced HLTA or a highly skilled teaching assistant ready to step up
  • Confident leading groups and covering lessons where necessary
  • Knowledgeable in primary curriculum delivery across key stages
  • Passionate about helping every child reach their full potential
  • Strong communicator and team player
  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to continuous professional development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
