Teaching Assistant – SEMH Focus (Full Time) in Southampton

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis in a thriving mainstream school. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and who understands the importance of early, targeted intervention.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils across a range of age groups, delivering structured intervention sessions both individually and in small groups. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop emotional regulation, positive behaviour strategies and confidence in their learning, enabling them to engage more successfully within the classroom environment.

Working in partnership with class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals, you will help plan, deliver and review SEMH-focused interventions tailored to individual needs. A calm, consistent and nurturing approach is essential, as is the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who may present with additional challenges.

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally within a school setting
Is patient, resilient and reflective in their practice
Can work effectively as part of a team while also using their initiative
Is committed to inclusion and supporting pupils to reach their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
