Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Autism)
Location: Bitterne, Southampton
Start Date: After May Half Term
Contract Type: Full-Time, Ongoing
Are you a patient and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?
Teaching Personnel is working closely with a small, welcoming infant school in Bitterne to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant to start after May half term. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a child with autism within the classroom, helping them to access learning, manage routines and build confidence throughout the school day.
The school has a warm, inclusive environment and a dedicated team who work closely to provide the best outcomes for every child. For the right person, this role could become a longer-term position within a supportive setting.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting a child on a 1:1 basis within the classroom

Helping with structured tasks and emotional regulation
-
Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to adapt learning activities
-
Encouraging independence and celebrating progress
-
Supporting social interaction and engagement with peers
You will need:

Experience working with children with autism or additional needs (school or care settings welcome)

A nurturing and resilient approach

Good communication and teamwork skills

A genuine desire to make a positive impact

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
