Christchurch – Full Time – January 2026 Start
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is seeking an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from January 2026. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and contribute to their academic and personal development.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the school’s SEN team to support students across a range of subjects, ensuring that all learners can access the curriculum and achieve their potential. This role will involve both one-to-one and small group support, with a particular focus on helping students with additional learning needs.
Key responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to students with a range of learning needs, both in and out of the classroom

Assist teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lessons and learning activities

Help to create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students

Support the emotional and social development of students, promoting positive behaviour and engagement

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents to monitor progress and adapt support as needed
The ideal candidate will:
-
Have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role
-
Be confident supporting students with additional needs, including those with EHCPs
-
Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
-
Be committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential
-
Hold a relevant qualification or have experience working within a secondary school setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
