SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
A friendly and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them thrive in both their academic and personal development.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with Autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, or communication difficulties. You will work closely with the SENCo and class teachers to deliver tailored support plans and ensure that each student has the best possible opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:

Providing individualised support to students with SEN in and out of the classroom

Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

Supporting students’ emotional well-being and promoting positive behaviour

Helping to adapt learning materials and classroom activities to suit individual needs

Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student progress
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Experience supporting young people with SEN, ideally within a school environment
-
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential

Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
