We are currently working closely with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth who are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

This is a full-time, long-term position with an immediate start, offering the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate. You will be working closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis

• Assisting the class teacher with behaviour management and classroom support

• Helping students develop social, emotional and coping strategies

• Creating a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment

• Building positive relationships with students, staff and parents

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH (school-based or transferable experience considered)

• Is calm, patient, resilient and confident in managing challenging behaviour

• Is passionate about making a real difference to young people’s lives

• Can commit to a full-time, long-term role
