Teaching Assistant with EAL experience - 'Good' primary school - Salford (M7)

  • Are you a teaching assistant with experience of working with pupils who speak English as an additional language?
  • Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge working with young children?

Teaching personnel are working closely with a primary school in Salford (M7) which is situated in a multi-cultural catchment area. Due to the high number of pupils who speak English as an additional language, the Head teach of the primary school is looking for an experienced teaching assistant who has previously worked with children with EAL.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with English as an additional language for 1:1 and small group sessions with KS1 and KS2 pupils to enhance their access to the curriculum. They will be working with multiple children from many different cultural backgrounds so patience and a good understanding of how to develop the pupil's English skills is essential.

  • £55 - £65
  • Salford (M7) primary school
  • Full academic year starting in November 2018

The primary school is larger than average and has recently received an Ofsted rating of 'GOOD'. It has recently had a large intake of EAL children who are now moving into Key Stage 1. The school is looking for a candidate to fit into the school community straight away and is able to support and promote the warm and inclusive ethos.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working will children who speak English as an additional language
  • Have previously worked in 1:1 sessions and led small group sessions
  • Co-ordinate with the class room teacher to create and implement learning strategies
  • Have previous experience using PECs
