Teaching Assistant - Autism

An SEN school in Basingstoke are looking for a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to assist in supporting their pupils who have Special Educational Needs. The school caters for pupils who have a range of needs such as learning, emotional and speech and language difficulties.

You will need to have previous SEN experience, particularly within Autism as there are a large number of pupils with varied levels of Autism in attendance.

You will need to be happy to carry out some personal care, so a background in Healthcare would be helpful. There are some non-verbal pupils in attendance, therefore a relevant qualification or experience in Makaton or PEC's will be beneficial. As the suitable TA, you must:

- Be able to multitask and have the flexibility to help in a variety of situations.

- Be happy to work in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

- Have a minimum of grades A-C in GCSE Maths and English.

A typical school day will start at 08:30 and finish at 15:30. The staff are friendly and supportive, and the TA will need to get involved with the pupils right from the start and demonstrate initiative and effectiveness. Those who are interested will be welcome to spend a trial day at the school, upon completion of a mandatory vetting process.
