Teacher of Science Porth

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in Porth to cover a long term sickness. The school is looking for a Science teacher, preferably from a Biology/ chemistry background to join their department. The ideal candidate will be available full time and able to start immediately. Alongside this, excellent classroom management must be shown and you will be confident dealing with challenging behaviours.

The school has recently come under new leadership and positive changes are being implemented throughout the school. The position is expected to be throughout the academic year.

The new super school is expected to open in September which will boast state of the art sports facilities, ICT hubs and music studios. Although you will begin your journey in the older facility of the school, it will not be long before you are part of this new and exciting chapter.

The Ideal candidate must be:

  • A Teacher with either QTS or PTLLS/DTLLS qualifications, with specialisms in the subjects of any/all of the Sciences
  • Able to plan and deliver work covering the Science curriculum which will be delivered in a creative and engaging manner
  • Confident to work on a 1:1 basis with students who may be very disengaged from education
  • Able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that progress is tracked on a regular basis
  • Someone who can act as a positive role model to help the students re-engage with their education.
  • Someone who is able to boost self-esteem as well as help the student to make academic progress
  • Able to differentiate using creative, innovative learning resources and adapting to suit the student's learning style
  • Willing to produce weekly feedback reports to monitor and track progress of the students
  • Committed to working with the pupils for as long as they require tuition, which is usually on an ongoing basis across each term
