Teacher

Teaching Personnel are looking for a suitable candidate to work as a full time Teacher, in a Belper School which caters for students on the Autistic spectrum.
The role is to start in September but there may be an opportunity to start this term also.

Do you have the following skills?

• Fully Qualified Teacher
• Experience working in a school or residential setting with Autistic children, or any experience working with Autistic children and/or adults
• Full planning and lesson delivery
• Calm and patient personality which helps to enable students to become more independent and promote confidence and self-esteem
•  Experienced managing challenging behaviour and implementing communication aids such as Makaton and PECS, for non-verbal students and those with impaired communication
• Confident to implement Individual Education Plans and be willing to contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans with the support of the class teacher
• Be willing to get involved in extra-curricular activities including residential trips into the community
• Experienced assisting and supporting students to develop independence through vocational studies such as hygiene, cooking, shopping and budgeting.

The school:

• Caters for students aged between 4-19 years old who are all on the Autistic Spectrum;
• They strive to support pupils to make positive choices to communicate their needs and help themselves.
• The school has recently gone from 'Satisfactory' status to 'Good' in 2015, and has an 'Outstanding' residential provision.
• There is a Lower School, Upper School and offsite Post 16 department- all sites focus on Literacy, Numeracy and Functional Skills and students are encouraged to undertake work experience placements in later school years.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
