Support Worker - Ruislip (Central tube line)

We work in partnership with a special educational needs school based local to Ruislip station who provide amazing on-going specialist training and staff development opportunities for those with or seeking to build on their experience with special needs.

Due to complexity of the learning and social needs of pupils within the school they are looking for support assistants able to commit to working a minimum of 3 days (Monday to Friday) each week from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

The school supports children and young adults aged of 7 and 19 years with autism, learning difficulties and speech disorders so having experience with adults or early years would also be beneficial due to transferrable skills such as play skills and daily living skills.

Support assistants work collaboratively with 3 trained special needs teaching assistants along with a qualified SEN teacher in a small class of 6-8 children. TAs work closely with pupils promoting learning, communication and social interaction through short activities in class using sensory resources and play on topics such as colour, choice and their surroundings.

Having experience supporting with daily care skills including moving and handling, hoisting, personal care and feeding or tube feeding is beneficial but not essential.

Key Skills

• Availability minimum of 3 days per week 8:30am to 4:00pm
• Moving and Handling training is ideal but not essential
• Open to Personal care support (toileting)
• Confident in child/young adult interaction and play skills
• Open to development through on-job and additional training
