About the role:

As a Support Assistant in SEN provisions, you will be responsible in supporting the teacher in classroom activities for students whose complex needs means they have difficulties with learning. The needs of the pupils include Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate to profound learning difficulties and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Your role as a Support Assistant will be to build trusting relationships with students to ease their anxiety in and around the classroom. Alongside the teacher you will actively promote the social and personal development of students as well as their academic success. You will be required to support in the personal care of students.

About the candidate:

You must be an outgoing and caring individual in order to build strong and supporting relationships with the students you look after. This role if excellent for people who want to improve the lives of young people, and previous experience in supporting others is preferred. This does not have to be in a classroom setting; care and youth work is relevant too. Additional training such as Team Teach and Moving and Handling are valued in SEN provisions- but these are courses that Teaching Personnel run termly that you can attend.
