Supply Teacher Roles in September
Job description
Supply Teaching Opportunities for September!
Durham & Sunderland Secondary Schools | Competitive Daily Rates | Flexible Working
September is one of the busiest times of year for supply teaching, and Teaching Personnel is actively recruiting teachers across all subjects for secondary schools in Durham and Sunderland ahead of the new academic year.
Whether you're an experienced teacher looking for flexibility, an Early Career Teacher wanting to build experience across a range of schools, or someone returning to the classroom after a break, supply teaching in September offers an immediate route back into education on your own terms. Schools across both areas are actively seeking reliable, classroom-ready teachers — and with a new academic year comes fresh opportunities, new schools to work in, and the chance to hit the ground running from day one.
Already registered with another agency? If you're not getting the bookings, the schools, or the support you were promised, September is the perfect time to make a change. Teaching Personnel works with a wide network of secondary schools across Durham and Sunderland and we're honest about what each one is like before you commit to anything.
What supply teaching with Teaching Personnel looks like:
- Day-to-day and longer-term bookings across Durham and Sunderland secondary schools
- Covering a range of subjects at KS3 and KS5 depending on your specialism
- Delivering pre-planned lessons and managing classrooms across varied settings
- Building familiarity with local schools and staff as bookings develop over time
- Flexible working patterns — full-time, part-time, or as and when suits you
To be considered:
- QTS or equivalent — or a PGCE nearing completion with QTS confirmed for September
- Confidence and adaptability in a secondary classroom
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
What Teaching Personnel offers:
- Competitive daily rates
- Weekly pay via PAYE
- Guaranteed Work Scheme for financial stability and peace of mind
- Honest information about schools before you accept any booking
- Free CPD and ongoing professional development
- Dedicated consultant support — not just a name on an email
- Routes into long-term and permanent positions for those who want them
Don't wait until September to get registered — the best bookings go early.
