Specialist Teaching Assistant – SEN/SEMH (Full-Time)
West Yorkshire
£90 – £100 per day

Are you an experienced and passionate SEN professional looking for a rewarding new role? We are seeking Specialist Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

  • Severe/Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (SEN/PMLD)

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Communication & Interaction Needs

  • Complex Medical Needs

You will work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups, supporting pupils in both classroom and specialist settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality support to pupils with diverse needs.

  • Implement tailored strategies to promote engagement, progress, and independence.

  • Support behaviour management using positive and proactive approaches.

  • Provide personal care and support with moving & handling (training provided if required).

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff.

Requirements:

✅ Previous experience working with children/young people with SEN
✅ Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH, ASC, and/or complex needs
✅ Willingness to provide personal care and moving/handling support
✅ Full UK driving licence and access to transport (desirable due to school locations)
✅ Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS
✅ Team Teach/positive handling training desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
