The Successful Candidate must :
- Be available 5 days a week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, term time)
- Have a strong academic background with a minimum of GCSEs and A Levels inc. Maths and/or English - A* to C grades. Graduates in the following are strongly recommended to apply : Education Studies, Child Development, English, Maths, Drama, Sports or Psychology.
- Be punctual, reliable, consistent, motivated and hard working. You need to have a true interest in making a different to the pupil's development, and be looking for a long term opportunity.
- Be confident enough to deliver lesson plans when required and teach instructional strategies to engage all learners, especially pupils with learning difficulties
- Be able to use positive reinforcement when supporting behaviour difficulties with the pupils
The Staff & the School:
Our partner school is located on the west side of Cardiff, meeting the needs of children of all abilities aged 3-11. You would provide general classroom support but more specifically work closely to pupils with learning difficulties (Autism, ADHD, Social and Emotional Mental Health and Global Delay) in small groups or one-to-one. The school is a mainstream Primary however do have a number of pupils who are statemented and therefore require additional academic, emotional and social support.
All the staff work extremely well together to get the best from every child, irrelevant of their ability or background. Everyone who visits the school comments on the warm welcome and the friendly atmosphere that they find. The school motto is "Thinking and Learning Today to Help us all Tomorrow", and it is at the heart of everything they do. The Senior Leadership Team, Teachers and Support Staff pride themselves in preparing the children for their future lives, to be successful and to feel proud of their achievements.

The school believes children need to be inspired in order to make good progress. Many exciting opportunities are constantly planned for the children, to engage and inspire them in their work.
Length of contract : Ongoing until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity to turn permanent for the right candidate
Salary : £9 to £11 an hour
Location : Cardiff - Ely (CF5)
Applicants must :
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
- Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
- Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) - please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
- Provide at least two professional or character references
- Be available to interview and/or trial asap
- Be available to start on short notice
- Be living in Cardiff and/or have plans to move to Cardiff in the near future and/or be willing to travel to Cardiff
