SLT Specialist Unit


A popular Secondary school in Swansea are seeking Teaching Assistants to support the needs of students aged 11-18 with Autism and a variety of other additional learning needs including ADHD, dyslexia and PMLD on a small group and 1:1 basis.

The students attend the mainstream school but their classes are separate from mainstream and they also have a learning resource base where a majority of their learning takes place due to SEN statements. A majority of the pupils have issues around Speech and many have co-existing conditions including ADHD, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, disruptive behaviour disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, tics and Tourette syndrome, epilepsy and learning disabilities. Applicants must be confident and capable of supporting pupils who have problems with communication, moving independently or ASc. Candidates must be resilient and have the ability to work pro actively with challenging behaviour.

Class sizes are small and there will usually be a Teacher, HLTA and other Teaching Assistants in the classroom, however, you will be expected to use your own initiative and work pro actively.

The school have been known to appoint candidates who get on particularly well on a permanent basis.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
