SEN Teaching Assistant – Leigh, Wigan (WN7)

Are you a patient, caring, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next role? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Leigh (WN7), supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.

Requirements:

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, or SEMH.
• A relevant TA qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable.
• Confidence in using a range of SEND strategies and resources.
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• A proactive and flexible approach to working as part of a wider SEND team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities.
• Use a range of strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
• Help create a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Work closely with the SENDCo, external professionals, and teaching staff to review progress and adjust support.
• Support pupils’ social development, inclusion, and overall wellbeing.
