SEND Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start | Newton Abbot, Devon

Location: Newton Abbot, Devon
Role: SEND Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
Start Date: Immediate Start – Ongoing Opportunities
Pay: £90–£100 per day (paid weekly through Teaching Personnel)
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, with an early finish every Friday

We are recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in Newton Abbot, supporting pupils aged 7–16 with a wide range of additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career in special education, autism support, or complex needs care while making a genuine difference every day.

About the Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex learning needs.

  • Work with pupils with Autism (ASC/ASD), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).

  • Adapt activities and classroom resources to meet individual learning plans.

  • Support pupils’ emotional development, independence, and positive behaviour.

  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to support holistic progress.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting SEND pupils (in school, care, or youth settings).

  • PRICE training or similar behaviour management experience (desirable).

  • Transferable skills from care work, youth work, or mentoring.

  • Excellent communication, empathy, patience, and resilience.

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting young people.

  • Willingness to complete safeguarding and CPD training.
