HLTA / Cover Supervisor – Immediate Start | Newton Abbot, Devon

Location: Newton Abbot, Devon
Role: HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) / Cover Supervisor
Start Date: Immediate Start – Ongoing Opportunities
Pay: £100–£110 per day (paid weekly through Teaching Personnel)
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, with an early finish every Friday

Are you an experienced HLTA or Cover Supervisor looking for your next challenge? We are seeking confident and dedicated professionals to support pupils aged 7–16 in a specialist school setting in Newton Abbot, Devon. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their potential.

About the Role

  • Lead whole-class and small-group sessions in the absence of a teacher.

  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC/ASD), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).

  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.

  • Manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to enhance pupil engagement and progress.

What We’re Looking For

  • HLTA qualification or experience as a Cover Supervisor (essential).

  • Previous experience supporting SEND pupils (desirable).

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to engage and motivate pupils with diverse learning needs.

  • Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

  • Willingness to undertake safeguarding and professional development training.
