Exeter SEND Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start

Location: Exeter, Devon
Role: SEND Teaching Assistant 
Start Date: ASAP – Immediate opportunities available
Pay: £90–£100 per day (paid weekly)
Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm

Teaching Personnel are seeking SEND Teaching Assistants to work in our partner schools across Exeter. These schools provide specialist education and support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC/ASD)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
  • PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)
  • Complex Needs
  • Primary and Secondary SEND support

About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant in Exeter, you will:

  • Support pupils with SEND in both 1:1 and small group settings.

  • Help teachers deliver personalised learning plans.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional development.

  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced SEND Teaching Assistants and individuals with transferable skills from care, youth work, or similar backgrounds. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.

  • Previous experience in education, childcare, or care settings (preferred but not essential).

  • Strong communication, patience, and resilience.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

  • Willingness to complete relevant training.
