SEND Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start

Location: Newton Abbot, Devon
Role: SEND Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP – Immediate opportunities available
Pay: £90–£100 per day (paid weekly through Teaching Personnel)
Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, with an early finish on Fridays

Are you passionate about supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a specialist setting supporting pupils aged 7–16 with a wide range of additional needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference while gaining valuable experience in a specialist SEND environment.

About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils aged 7–16 with complex needs in 1:1 and small group settings.

  • Work with pupils with needs such as Autism (ASC/ASD), SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties), and other complex needs.

  • Adapt and deliver activities and resources to meet individual learning plans.

  • Support pupils’ emotional development, independence, and positive behaviour.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting SEND pupils is highly desirable.

  • PRICE training is also highly desirable.

  • Applications welcomed from candidates with transferable skills (e.g., care work, youth work, mentoring).

  • Strong communication, patience, and resilience.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs.

  • Willingness to complete relevant safeguarding and training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
