SEN Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant required at a secondary SEN school based in Wallasey.

As a Teaching Assistant within this school, you will gain rewarding role whereby you will have the opportunity to positivity impact the learning, development and lives of pupils who struggle to engage within mainstream education and have a learning difficulty including; MLD, PMLD, SLD, Autism, ADHD and Down Syndrome.

  • Full time Teaching Assistant – ASAP start
  • Temporary post until the end of the academic year (July 2020) with potential permanent progression opportunity
  • Working hours (8:30am – 3:30pm)
  • Earn up to GBP1200 per month

This Teaching Assistant role is at an all through school (11-19) for pupils with a wide variety of SEN based in Wallasey. The school is easily accessible from Liverpool city centre due to its strong public transport links. There is a bus stop in walking distance to the school. For those with their own transport, it is a short drive from the M53 making it easily commutable from Liverpool, South Wirral and Ellesmere Port.

The school caters for secondary aged students 14 -18. The needs of the students include PMLD, SLD, SEMH and challenging behaviour, autism (ASD), and mental health difficulties.

Applicant requirements;

  • Previous exposure supporting the learning of SEN pupils
  • Be confident supporting pupils aged 14 -18 within their studies across various subject areas
  • Hold previous experience supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour
  • Be able to build positive working relationships with pupils
  • Team Teach, Approach or any other form of restraint/physical intervention/de-escalation training is highly desirable
  • PECS or Makaton training is also desirable
