SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Do you have experience of working with children or adults with SEN including learning difficulties (PMLD, SpLD, MLD), ASC, Complex Needs, and Health Issues?
  • Do you want to work in an education setting supporting primary aged pupils KS1 and KS2?
  • Would you be comfortable with personal care aspects of working with pupils with SEN?

Role

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit an SEN Primary Teacher to work within a Primary Special Educational Needs School in Liverpool. We are looking for people that are flexible and can work on a day to day basis as well as people that would like long term work.

School

This school is an outstanding primary SEN school which caters for children with a range of complex learning needs and health issues such as SLD, PMLD and ASC. Two thirds of pupils are boys and pupils come from all over Liverpool to attend. Pupils achieve more than parents say they ever dared hope for. Pupils' excellent progress enables them to live their lives to their full potential, whatever their level of disability or special educational needs.

Responsibilities

*To encourage pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life.

*To support and care for the child in their toileting needs.

*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class support team and other professionals.

*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.

Requirements

You must have had solid experience working with children and/or young people with complex and severe learning disabilities. Additional training and experience such as Moving and Handling, Team-Teach, Peg feeding, PECS, Personal Care would be highly beneficial.
