SEN Teaching Assistant Required Hearing Impaired Level 2

Based on the site of local College, the provision provides specialist support to pupils with hearing impairments. This is a role for September for the right candidate and ongoing with the opportunity of a direct contract for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills. They will be a team player and committed to the College's inclusive ethos. This role requires candidates to have a strong understanding of SEN needs. The Teaching Assistant would support planning and assessment of learning needs and be expected to take a proactive role in the provision.

The role would involve supporting students to develop basic skills in language, reading, writing, spelling and mathematics. The Teaching Assistant would also play a part in encouraging concentration and role modelling positive social skills. The ability to be creative, proactive and build positive rapport with students will be vital in this role.

The Teaching Assistant will:

• Be qualified to HI Level 2 or higher
• BSL Level 2 or higher
• Supporting students aged 16-19 years of age
• Have experience supporting students with hearing impairments
• Differentiate lessons to suit the needs and abilities of learners in the class
• Work under the guidance of the class teacher/lecturer and report to the Head of the Hearing-Impaired Provision
• Provide support according to each pupils EHCP
• Work 1:1 or in small groups with students in the class
• Weekly pay, full and part time opportunities available
