SEN Teaching assistant required for specialist school

Job description

An Ofsted 'OUTSTANDING' SEN school in Radcliffe, Bury are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support within their school on a long term basis to start after February half term.

This school are a 98 place school that support pupils with complex medical, communication and physical needs. Some children also have Autism Spectrum Conditions that can result in challenging behaviours. The school caters for pupils aged 4 - 11 throughout mixed ability classes. Pupil's communication needs result in alternative methods of communication being used around school, such as iPads, PECs, Brail and BSL. Promoting independence is a main focus within this 'Outstanding' school therefore staff that share this passion is essential.

The Teaching Assistant would need to be flexible to working across all age ranges and with different abilities.

It would be highly desirable for the Teaching Assistant to have experience of;

  • Moving and Handling Training
  • PEG Feeding
  • Tracheostomy Training
  • Personal Care
  • A small number of pupils within this school also use BSL as a predominant method of communication, BSL training is highly desirable.
  • School based experience is also highly desirable

This position would look to continue on a rolling basis with a high potential of eventually becoming permanent. The school will be looking to meet potential staff on practical interviews immediately with the view to starting immediately after. All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
