SEN Teaching Assistant

I work with a wonderful SEN school in Haverfordwest who are currently seeking an experienced teaching assistant for a temporary based role. This school is overseen by the local education authority which provides high quality education for children aged between 3 and 19 years who have a variety of learning difficulties.

The role will entail leading a small class of pupils to reach learning targets. The classes are smaller than mainstream and you’ll have the support of several teaching assistants in the class.

The school are looking for someone who is confident, organised, who can use their own initiative to pick up from the hand over and take responsibility in supporting challenging pupils and help them hit development targets.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

• Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD);
• Dyslexia;
• Dyspraxia;
• Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI);
• Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD);
• Profound and Moderate Learning Difficulties (PMLD);
• Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD);
• Severe Learning Difficulties.

What you would need in order to apply:

• Must have experience supporting adults / children with learning difficulties.
• Experience supporting and de-escalating challenging behaviour
• You will need to be confident, organised and an enthusiastic individual who’s passionate about getting the best out of the pupils
