SEN Teaching Assistant - Rochdale

We are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join the SEN department for a full time position within a large modern secondary school in Rochdale

  • Full time position as an SEN Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils on a 1:1 and group basis
  • Working within a large modern secondary school in Rochdale graded 'Good' by Ofsted
  • Get paid between £55 and £70, dependent on experience and the responsibilities
  • Further development opportunities available through our CPD courses

You will be working within a large modern secondary school in Rochdale located a short distance from Rochdale Royal Infirmary, easily accessible both by car or public transport with links to Manchester City centre a close walk away. The school have an excellent reputation within the community and continually deliver high GCSE results as well as having a great reputation of being a supportive environment for both the pupils and staff within the school.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will be required to support identified pupils within the school with a wide range of additional needs, such as; autism (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language Communication needs (SpLD), Non verbal or very low communication skills, Tourette's syndrome, Challenging behaviour, Medical needs.

Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant is preferred, however we would welcome applicants from those with experience in; youth work, residential care, Team-Teach, mentoring, behaviour/learning support, psychology, or any similar support type role. We would also welcome applicants from recent graduates who are seeking a career in education and would like to gain further experience in a secondary school environment before enrolling on a Teacher Training Programme such as a PGCE.
