Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Weymouth

Our Primary branch here at Teaching Personnel are currently working closely with a well established School which is in a large Academy trust and looking for a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience. The School are in need of temporary, full time and part time teaching assistants to work with pupils with a variety of needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, youth workers, Sports coaches, residential support workers and experienced individuals who are passionate about working with children and young people.

Your role will include:

  • Undertaking tasks set by the class teacher.
  • Supporting children within the class.
  • Building up rapport between yourself and the pupils.
  • Managing the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Supporting children with SEN ranging from mild to severe.
  • Working with small groups of 1-2-1.
  • Working with outside agencies who work to support the child

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • Recent experience of working in a Mainstream classroom/or experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting.
  • A strong passion to enhance the development of pupils.
  • An approachable and positive attitude.
  • Hold relevant qualifications - including GCSE A-C
  • Be confident in working with small groups and 1:1.
  • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to gain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
