SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client school in the upcoming academic year. Working alongside pupils with additional needs you will be required to support pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and help them reach the curriculum through 1:1 support as well as assisting them in a group setting. We want to hear from you if you have experience in a secondary school working within the SEN support department or if you have been in a similar position, helping to assist young people with special educational needs.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Working alongside the SEN department, supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs, such as; Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia or any other SEMH or behaviour difficulties.
• Providing support for pupils both in and outside of the classroom, on a 1:1 and group basis, assisting them with any additional needs they have and helping them reach the curriculum.
• Reporting back to the SEN Co-ordinator as well as pupils parents, discussing progress and next steps in strategically improving engagement within the classroom.

Our client school is smaller in comparison to a number of Oldham schools and has a strong community feel due to the respectful attitudes of pupils who engage with their education, which is accredited to the high standards of teaching across the board. The school is well lead by the Principal and their senior leadership team; the academy sponsors also provide support with CPD for staff development. The majority of students on roll are from minority ethnic backgrounds and the number of students who speaking English as an additional language is above the national average. The school moved in to a purpose built site and is located a short distance from Royal Oldham Hospital in Oldham.
