Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making education accessible for all pupils? Are you an adaptable and patient person who understands the complexities of Special Educational Needs?
Teaching Personnel, on behalf of a client Catholic school in the West End of Newcastle, are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with a reception pupil on a full time basis. The school itself is based around 15 minutes from Newcastle city centre and is currently rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and have a strong Catholic ethos which supports learners and staff alike.
The pupil whom you will work on a one-to-one basis has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), therefore communication between the learner and the Teaching Assistant can often become a challenge within itself. The pupil needs someone extremely patient and understanding of the child's behaviours and reactions. The role will include:
- Helping EYFS children in the earliest stages of their education
- Provide 1:1 assistance to an SEN pupil both inside and outside of classroom during the school day
- Assist with the development of the child both emotionally and eventually academically
- Provide the child with a positive role model whom they can look up to
- Communicate with the teachers to create strategies to help the learner to achieve his potential
- Work together with the primary care giver to help make each day a positive, happy experience for the child
- Help create a safe learning environment where children feel comfortable and therefore thrive
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will have experience inside the EYFS environment, potentially within schools or nurseries. Experience working within the SEN sector is also vital. Alongside this, the candidate should be:
- Highly motivated to help every pupil achieve their full potential
- Patient and understanding to certain behaviours exhibited by the pupil
- Have a strong knowledge of SEN issues, particularly ASD.
- Willing to develop unique strategies to encourage and care for individual students
- Passionate about the care and development of every child
- Experienced in dealing with a variety of behavioural types from young children
- Up to date knowledge of issues within the EYFS environment
Benefits/Reimbursement:
- Potential earnings of up to £350 per week
- Full Time role beginning this September
- Genuinely make an impact on the lives of young learners
- Continued Professional Development (CPD) through Teaching Personnel and potentially the school themselves.
