Job description

A highly regarded specialist education setting in Beaminster is looking for a caring and dedicated Childcare Assistant to join their supportive team. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for children and young people aged 2–18 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including learning difficulties, communication needs, and complex additional needs.

Staff pride themselves on creating a safe, structured and positive space where every pupil is supported to develop independence, confidence and life skills. It is a rewarding environment where teamwork, compassion and patience are at the heart of everything. Working Hours: Full-time, term-time only position and typical hours 9.00am – 3.45pm

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils aged 2–18 with a range of SEN and additional needs

  • Assist with personal care and daily routines where required

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support in and outside the classroom

  • Encourage pupils’ communication, independence and social skills

  • Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support learning and wellbeing

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN needs

  • A patient, nurturing and proactive approach

  • Confidence supporting personal care needs

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to thrive

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
