SEN Teaching Assistant (ASC)

We are currently supporting a specialist provision near Truro that provides specialist care services for autistic people. Their services include residential care for adults and children, outreach support and education for children.

We are recruiting children’s care support workers to join our valued team of caring and dedicated professionals.

Your role:

You will support children and young people to have an excellent quality of life in a valuing and dignified manner, empowering and enabling children and young people to reach life goals and promote independence. This may include emotional, personal, physical and social support.

Additionally, you will:
– Assist in maintaining a happy, stimulating and secure environment for all children and young people.
– Contribute to the assessment of the needs of individual children and young people.
– Support children and young people in activities and contribute to the recording and evaluation of these activities.
– Ensure that children and young people’s medications are administered accurately and recorded as required.
– Undertake the responsibility of key worker.
– Encounter difficulties associated with challenging behaviour.
– Carry out administrative functions such as progress reports, case, medical and financial records, as well as house safety checks.
– Undertake a range of domestic, self-care and/or social skills tasks, many with children and young people, which include: cooking; cleaning; washing; ironing; personal care; driving company vehicles.

We are looking for:
– Experience of working with children and young people.
– Excellent written and oral communication skills.
– Diploma in Residential Childcare Level 3 or a commitment to work towards gaining this qualification.
– Knowledge or willingness to undertake further training around autism and related disorders.
– Ability to deal with a potentially stressful environment of verbally or physically challenging children and young people.
– Ability to think and act quickly to intervene or take appropriate action in the event of challenging situations.
– A flexible approach to work with the ability to work in a team.
– Full clean driving licence.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
