Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced SEN Teacher for a full-time role at a special school in Bradford.
The school specialises in Communication and Interaction needs which includes Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. It is therefore essential that you have previous experience of delivering lessons for young people with additional needs.
There are currently 150 pupils on roll aged 3-19 and all pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan. You will be working predominantly with 7-11-year olds and will be delivering a largely primary focussed curriculum. We are seeking a teacher who has experience using TEACCH, SCERTS and Intensive Interaction, which will be integral throughout your planning.
All teachers in school are expected to meet the appropriate Teacher Standards / Post Threshold Standards as a minimum requirement (relevant to experience).
Key duties:
- To undertake the teaching of SEN students with Education Health and Care Plans, across the range of SEN needs and ages, and particularly those learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and other related conditions
- To provide a quality of teaching and learning provision that can be judged to be at least ‘good’ (according to the Ofsted evaluation framework) and ensures all students make at least good progress
- Be accountable for the attainment and progress of all students who are taught by the post holder
- Produce student SEN passports, monitor student social communication development, contribute to provision mapping and annual reviews for students
- Supervise and guide the work of any support staff (including Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) who are assigned to work with post holder’s classes/students
- To set clear learning objectives and plan for and teach across the whole age and ability range for an appropriate proportion of the week
- Use data to plan lessons and learning materials to motivate and support all students to make at least good progress
- To set high expectations for students’ behaviour, learning, motivation, and presentation of work by establishing a purposeful working atmosphere and providing challenging and inspirational learning experiences
- Take account of students’ prior attainment, learning styles and needs and use them to set appropriately challenging targets and learning activities
- Attend the appropriate Parent/Teacher Evenings and individual meetings to keep parents/carers informed as to attainment and the progress of their child towards targets
This will be a full-time, temporary post in the first instance, until April 2021. There may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent role in school following a successful probationary period.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
