SEN Provision in Totnes

This specialist SEN provision in Totnes offers a nurturing, personalised and needs-led educational experience for young people with diverse and complex needs. The setting supports pupils who may have struggled in mainstream education, providing flexible programmes that combine academic, vocational and outdoor learning opportunities.

Based across two well-equipped sites in South Devon, the provision supports pupils aged 11–19 within small group and one-to-one environments. With a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, resilience and real-world skills, the curriculum is underpinned by therapeutic principles and tailored to meet individual needs. Positive, supportive relationships between staff and pupils are central to helping every young person rebuild confidence and thrive both in learning and in life.


The Role

This is a rewarding position focused on providing personalised support to help young people re-engage with education, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored support and supervision for pupils aged 7–16, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting them to work towards agreed targets

  • Planning and delivering elements of learning and intervention programmes to support individual progress

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups as part of a collaborative team to support pupils’ academic, social, emotional and behavioural development

  • Leading targeted 1:1 intervention sessions both on-site and off-site to address specific needs and promote successful re-engagement with education


About You

We are seeking an empathetic, resilient and motivated individual who is passionate about making a positive difference to young people with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people

  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning

  • Confidence in positively managing behaviour, remaining calm in challenging situations

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, when working with pupils, colleagues and families

  • A good standard of education, including GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths, and IT proficiency

As the role involves transporting pupils, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle (insured for business use) is essential.

£25,410 – £26,440 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Working Hours

Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 4:45pm
