Our client school in Burnley has asked us to recruit a Teaching Assistant experienced in supporting pupils with SEN. The pupils range in age from 4-11 and have varying needs including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities, Hearing Impairments, Visual Impairments, Severe Learning Difficulties, Autism and Complex Needs. The class sizes are small and there are a number of other teaching assistants in each clossroom to assist. You will be required to provide personal care and assist with toileting and feeding. The working hours are from 8:30am - 3:30pm and you could be in any class from Reception - Year 6, therefore you must be confident in supporting children of all ages.

Candidates with experience in Makaton, PECs, Visual Timetables, Team Teach and Autism are highly sought after.

The school also has a pool which pupils use for hydrotherapy sessions. The sessions include movement and exercises in the water to increase mobility and relax the students. Although you may not be expected to assist in these sessions, a willingness to do so would benefit your application. The sessions are fun and include lights and music to create a sensory / therapeutic environment for the pupils.

The school value candidates who have a fun and upbeat personality with the ability to emmerse themselves in school life / activities. You must be proactive with a can-do attitude and have the ability to build rapport quickly. You will ideally have SEN experience or a close personal connection to someone with SEN.

The role will initially be on a supply basis and you must be fully available (with no future holidays or appointments booked during term time).
