SEN TA cover work, South Croydon School, support SEN children

Date posted : 20/05/19
£55 - £75 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Day to day and short term work available as an SEN teaching assistant/learning support assistant!

I am currently working with two big SEN schools in South Croydon and Addington, who regularly require agency staff to work at the schools covering sickness, holidays and other planned absences for their permanent staff.

The two schools I work with are specifically SEN schools where each child will have a statement of Special Educational Needs (now known as an Educational Health Care Plan). They provide a tailored curriculum for students with Autism, Challenging Behaviour, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties. There are opportunities to work with either primary or secondary aged students.

To work in these schools you must:

  • Have experience of supporting children with SEN, either school based or from elsewhere
  • Be available to work normal school hours which are 08:30am - 15:30pm
  • Have a child only DBS on the update service, or be willing to complete a new application
  • Be able to provide references from previous employers
  • Be able to use PECs, Makaton or British Sign Language - this is desirable but not essential
  • Live local to South Croydon or Addington

Moving and handling training is extremely sought after in one of the schools, as the majority of students are wheelchair users so you will need to use hoist equipment as well as provide personal care.

Working in these schools can offer the following benefits:

  • Potential to progress to working full time
  • Purpose built facilities including sensory rooms, garden, hydrotherapy, outdoor learning
  • Access to training courses that are either free or heavily subsidised
  • Good transport links on the bus or the tram - also free parking in the surrounding roads
  • Competitive daily pay rates
  • No umbrella company - we pay a national insurance and pension contribution for you!

Send your CV for consideration of registering with the agency today.
