SEN Support Worker – Bolton

Are you an empathetic and dedicated individual with a heart for supporting children with complex needs?

We are seeking a dynamic Support Worker to join our team at a mixed-age Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Bolton. This role is ideal for candidates with care work experience and a specific emphasis on experience or training in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).

Key Responsibilities: As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing personalized care and support to pupils with complex needs. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and adapting activities to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Providing essential personal care, including assistance with feeding, toileting, and dressing.
  • Utilising and promoting the use of PECS for effective communication with non-verbal or limited-verbal students.
  • Collaborating closely with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress and achievements of students.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
  • Provide references covering the previous 24 months of employment history.
  • Have experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Possess essential training or experience in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
  • Be registered with Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
