Job description

Looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN)? An exciting opportunity awaits in Manchester for a passionate and dedicated Support Worker to join a dynamic team as a Teaching Assistant at a SEN school.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEN, assisting them in their educational and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Encourage students to engage in classroom activities and develop their social and communication skills.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/guardians.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional needs of children with SEN.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or willingness to work towards these qualifications.
