Job description

A Special School in Bradford are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for a full time role commencing February 2019.

The school is located in the Fagley area of Bradford and benefits from good public transport links.

The school provides alternative education to pupils aged 2-18 who have a range of additional needs. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be required to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil with Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). The child is performing below age related expectations and requires specific support to overcome barriers to learning. You will be working under the direction of an experienced class teacher and with the resident Speech and Language Therapist to deliver a specific programme of support designed to raise attainment and improve the pupil's communication. The school benefits from a state of the art sensory and interaction room, hydrotherapy pool and in house holistic therapist.

We are ideally seeking a teaching assistant with a qualification in supporting and understanding Autism or an individual who has a considerable amount of experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs.

The successful applicant will have:

- Experience working with students who have Autism Spectrum Conditions

- Experience of working in close collaboration with a classroom teacher, school support staff and the wider community

- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the SEND code of practice

- A commitment to assuring that all pupils are fully supported in achieving the best possible outcomes and exceeding expectation's
