SEN Support Assistant

Job description

Our Specialist Secondary branch here at Teaching Personnel work closely with a secondary school just outside of Newport that caters students aged 11-19 who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs. Within this school the children & young people are able to access vocational alternative lessons that are differentiated accordingly. You will work with every child baring in mind that they are an individual ensuring that their educational and therapeutic needs are met so that they can flourish both within the school and when they leave. An adaptable approach to learning is fundamental for many of their pupils in order to help them make sense of the world around them and is embedded within their adapted curriculum.

**All successful candidates are subject to a DBS check and registration Education Workforce Council**

You must be able to use your own initiative and willing to get "stuck in" on occasions - some of these children & young people can display challenging behaviour you must be able to assist the school staff in defusing & de-escalating any situation as they arise. Having experience in supporting children and young people with a variety of additional needs is beneficial.

**The roles are starting ASAP, latest at Easter**

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
