  • Do you have experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting?

An Ofsted graded 'good' specialist SEN School in Manchester are looking to build their team with the addition of a new KS2 Teaching Assistant to support their pupils with Autism. This Key Stage 2 class has since opened since September 2018 and due to expansion in numbers since then, require additional staff. This particular class has had an increase in pupils with low-functioning Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and therefore need a member of staff who has experience of working with individuals with complex needs.

This school caters for pupils aged 5 - 16 with a range of complex special needs including Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Complex Medical Needs.

They are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to start ideally as soon as possible (latest, just after October half term) to help the class with their expanding numbers.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have sound knowledge and experience of alternative methods of communication e.g. PECs and Makaton as well as an understanding of multi-sensory needs. The school are also looking for;

  • Individuals with previous experience working within a school or a similar setting
  • An enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a passion for special educational needs
  • Experience working with young people with multiple special educational needs
  • Individuals who have knowledge of Plevels and low national curriculum levels
  • Experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition
