Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across St Helens from September 2025. These are full-time roles with the potential to become permanent for the right candidates.

Who We’re Looking For:

We welcome applicants from a variety of relevant backgrounds, including:

  • Psychology graduates with a strong understanding of child development and behaviour

  • Aspiring teachers looking to gain valuable classroom experience

  • Professionals from residential care, youth support, or mental health services

  • Individuals with experience working with children or young people in education, care, or community settings

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, assisting with academic work, behaviour management, and emotional regulation. Your support will be crucial in helping students thrive both socially and academically.

Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in working with young people

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude

  • Willingness to apply for (or possession of) an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
