Job Title: HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)
Location: Southport
Contract Type: Full Time (Temp to Perm)
Start Date: Immediate

Are you a passionate and skilled HLTA ready to make a difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a team at an alternative provision school in Southport. This school supports students who have found mainstream education challenging, providing tailored support to help them thrive in a practical and nurturing environment.

About the Role:
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting students across Key Stage 3 and 4, helping them overcome barriers to learning. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support in both practical and academic areas, including core subjects such as English and Maths. Many of the students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), so patience, empathy, and consistency are essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging lessons to small groups of students.

  • Provide targeted academic and emotional support to students with additional needs.

  • Assist students in developing their English and Maths skills.

  • Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt lessons and activities.

  • Build trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), is highly desirable.

  • Confident in supporting learning across various subjects, including English and Maths.

  • Patient, empathetic, and capable of building strong, positive relationships with students.

  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting the educational and personal development of students.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
