Location: Liverpool
Contract: Full-time

A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Our mission is to help every student overcome barriers and reach their full potential through tailored support and a nurturing approach.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs. You’ll work closely with individuals and small groups, helping them manage their emotions, build resilience, and engage positively with learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement trauma-informed practices to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to help students manage behaviour and emotions effectively.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster engagement and trust.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to develop and implement personalised support plans.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to help students overcome daily challenges.
  • Encourage and guide students towards achieving both educational and personal goals.
  • Monitor progress and adapt support strategies as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed practice and behaviour management.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children who have struggled in mainstream education.
  • Exceptional empathy, resilience, and patience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • A proactive, positive approach to problem-solving and teamwork.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
