Learning Support Assistant – Alternative Provision (Liverpool)

Make a real difference in the lives of young people!

Are you passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning? Do you have the skills and empathy to support secondary pupils with special educational needs in a positive, nurturing environment?

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join an alternative provision school in Liverpool. In this role, you’ll work closely with students who need tailored support, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs in small classroom settings.
  • Assist with engaging classroom activities, ensuring every student feels included.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships that promote confidence and well-being.
  • Support positive behaviour management and help de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Offer one-to-one support where needed, encouraging skill development and independence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with secondary students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Confidence in managing behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Reliability and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
