SEN Primary & Secondary School in Plumstead seeking Teaching Assistants long term full time to start in January

  • Long Term Full Time role to start in January
  • Potential to go permanent with the school
  • Sensory Garden, hydro therapy, room to grow and develop skills supporting SEN pupils

A large primary special school in Plumstead who are a forward thinking and innovative school that is committed to providing an outstanding education for children with a wide range of learning needs is seeking to appoint the following Learning Support Assistant to start in January in a long term full time role:

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant; you will work as a member of a class team as well as part of the wider school team. They provide a safe and healthy environment and you will support children’s learning work under the direction of the Teacher and the Senior Teaching Assistant and be involved in providing personal and intimate care, managing challenging behaviour and actively participating in physical activities such as swimming and PE.

Induction programmes and training will be provided for the successful candidate.

The ideal SEN TA should have the following;

• Motivation to work with children and young people

• Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and relate to both support staff, teaching staff and a range of other professionals

• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people

• Ability to contribute towards written observations and records of individual progress

• Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours; and attitudes to the use of authority and maintaining discipline

• Confident in the swimming pool and able to support children in weekly sessions

About the role:

• Long Term Full Time (Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm)

• Start January 2018
