Class Teacher – Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
Location: Bordon, Hampshire (Hollywater area)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (term time, plus inset days)
A warm, inclusive, and child-centred school in the Hollywater area of Bordon is seeking a Class Teacher to lead a class of pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and attachment-related needs.
The school supports children with complex learning profiles, including significant cognitive delays, communication needs, autism, sensory processing differences, and social, emotional, and attachment difficulties. Pupils benefit from a highly structured, nurturing environment where relationships, consistency, and emotional safety are central to learning.
About the Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a small class of pupils who require high levels of support, routine, and emotional regulation. Teaching focuses on personalised learning, communication, life skills, and emotional development, alongside academic progress appropriate to each child’s stage of development.
This role is suited to a teacher who is patient, reflective, and committed to trauma-informed and relationship-based practice. The school welcomes applications from teachers with experience in special education, early years, primary, or alternative provision, as well as from those looking to develop their skills within a specialist setting.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver highly personalised learning tailored to pupils with SLD and attachment needs

Create a calm, predictable, and emotionally safe classroom environment

Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils through consistent and nurturing practice

Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional development

Work closely with Learning Support Assistants to ensure effective classroom support

Use assessment and observation to track progress and adapt teaching approaches

Collaborate with SEN staff, therapists, and external professionals

Communicate effectively with families and contribute to reviews and reports

Uphold safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice at all times

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
